Skillogalee has been making Sparkling Riesling since 1987. The fruit is 100% hand-picked Riesling from low yielding vines growing at just under 500m above sea level on our own vineyards near Sevenhill in the picturesque Clare Valley. Clare is, of course, renowned for its fine Riesling!
The wine was bottle fermented and aged on lees for 30 months. The nose shows aromas of freshly buttered toast with lemon curd and there are hints of cashews, brioche and lime marmalade. The palate shows both generosity and finesse, with a fine, creamy mousse. There are flavours of honey, green mango and grapefruit and there is a persistent, crisp, dry finish. This current release has already started to mellow gracefully, and will continue to do so for several years to come, yielding those further hints of honey and toast which are typical of mature Riesling.
Generally only around 500 cases are made each year.
